Kiwi supermodel Georgia Fowler is set to increase the glam factor on Project Runway New Zealand.

The 25-year-old has been confirmed as host of the TVNZ 2 show.

The show's production team are currently casting for up to 16 designers to feature in the series and win the reality TV fashion crown, as well as casting for the remaining judges to join Fowler on the fashion panel.

A TVNZ spokesperson said applications for fashion hopefuls to contest Project Runway New Zealand had come from all over the world including designers from Australia, the Philippines and Zimbabwe as well as New Zealand.

"We couldn't be more delighted about the emerging talent that are coming through in the applications," the spokesperson said.

"We've had people from all walks of life, levels of expertise, and from all parts of the world – Zimbabwe, Philippines, UK, Australia, to name a few. The range of incredible talent that we're seeing is indicative of some outrageous looks that are predicted to be walking our runway later this year.

"To have Georgia, a superstar Kiwi model, confirmed as the host of the very first Project Runway New Zealand, is an absolute coup in our eyes. It will no doubt elevate this local series onto an international playing field, which is exceptionally exciting for the designers who make it on to the show."

Fowler has become a huge star on runways in the past year, including at glitzy Victoria's Secret shows.

"I couldn't be more thrilled to be coming home to be part of the very first season of Project Runway New Zealand," Fowler said.

"To help launch the career of a Kiwi designer, while giving people a glimpse into the world of fashion, is beyond exciting. Haere Ra, New York – and see you soon, Auckland."

The show will be filmed in Auckland later this year.
