Who doesn't love a nap? Whether it's after a long day, or a night out, naps can be the make or break to helping you feel awake and energized.
But did you know there's a right way to nap?
A new study has found the best time of day to nap, and how long you should actually sleep for, to avoid that groggy feeling afterward.
According to Aneesa Das, MD, a sleep medicine specialist at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, “Your nap should be 20-30 minutes. That way, you’ll be re-energized without affecting your nighttime sleep.”
30mins? Sounds like the perfect nap to us!
“You know how sometimes you’ll wake up from a nap feeling groggier than when you first laid down?” Das says. “That’s because you entered a deeper, slow-wave sleep and then were jolted out of it too early.”

So whats the best time of day to nap? Das says “the body’s preference is to nap around 2-4 pm." A good excuse to doze off at work, we think!
